Michel François Platini was born
on June 21, 1955. He is a French football player and former manager, and
president of the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) since 2007.
During a professional football career, Platini played for the club Nancy,
Saint-Étienne and Juventus, and is a member of the French national team that
won the 1984 European Championship, a tournament where he was top scorer and
was voted the best player. He also participated in the World Cup 1978, 1982 and
1986, reaching the semi-finals in the last two. Platini, Alain Giresse, Luis
Fernández and Jean Tigana together made up the "Carré magique"
(French for "magic square"), a group of midfield players that formed
the heart of the French national team throughout the 1980s.
With Juventus, Platini won the
Italian league as much as two-cal, the European Cup Winner's Cup, European
Super Cup, European Cup and World Club Championship in 1985. In addition, he
also signed up as Serie A top scorer and best player the world's three
consecutive seasons, ie pada1982/1983, 1983/1984, and 1984/1985. Everything he

He was regarded as one of the

French national team coach for four years, and is a co-organizer of the 1998
World Cup in France. He also became chairman of the FIFA Technical and
Development Committee, and vice president of the French Football Federation.
